Trinity University Launches Urban Debate Scholars Program
The NAUDL is pleased to announce that Trinity University recently launched the Urban Debate Scholars program to provide debate scholarships for graduating seniors. Trinity is proud to be at the forefront of higher education leadership within the Urban Debate Network and proud of this innovative program which designates debate scholarships for urban debaters.
Trinity University, located in San Antonio, is pleased to offer two scholarships for talented debaters from high schools participating in the Urban Debate Network. The scholarship amount will vary but will ensure that 100% of tuition and fees are paid by a combination of government and institutional grants and scholarships. Applicants must do the following to be eligible:
- Apply to Trinity University using the Common Application (www.commonapp.org) by February 1. There is no fee for an online application.
- Submit the FAFSA (www.fafsa.ed.gov) by February 15 and include Trinity’s school code – 003647. In addition, please submit Trinity’s one-page financial aid addendum form.
- Submit the following information for consideration for the Urban Debate Scholars program by March 1 to Dr. Jarrod Atchison, Department of Speech & Drama, Trinity University, One Trinity Place, San Antonio, TX, 78212:
- A letter of interest outlining the applicant’s involvement in competitive debate and his or her academic goals and interests.
- A tournament-by-tournament account of competitive debate record.
- A letter of recommendation from the applicant’s high school debate coach.
- Optional: letters of recommendation from anyone in a position to evaluate the applicant’s potential as a Trinity University debater (such as debate coaches, UDL Directors, and UDL Advisory Board members).
