Fall Receptions Develop Support for Urban Debate Leagues in Denver, Los Angeles, and the San Francisco Bay Area
This fall, the NAUDL hosted a series of receptions to promote support
for urban debate in Denver, Los Angeles, and the San Francisco Bay
area. We convened local school district administrators, educators,
attorneys and local business leaders. The events were held on
September 23rd in the Denver home of Roberto and Theresa Corrada;
on October 28th at the Beverly Hills home of Lance Rosenzweig; and
on December 2nd in the San Rafael, CA, home of Darin and Claire Snyder.
These events introduce prominent potential supporters to urban debate
and the prospects for a local League. They serve to cultivate
support, identify and activate volunteers, and increase awareness.
They draw upon the personal networks of local supporters and help
locate potential streams of future funding.
Denver

UDL debaters Suzy Rivas and Jennifer Dagons, and UDL alum Carneil Griffin presented personal accounts of how debate has influenced their lives.

In Los Angeles, Skylar and Bogart (“Bogie”) Rosenzweig greeted guests with gusto at the registration table, giving their personal best to make sure that no registration card was left uncompleted.

University of Redlands debate coach Bill Southworth and co-hosts Mark Helm and Lucy Keele helped build enthusiasm and support for a Los Angeles Urban Debate League.
San Francisco Bay Area

Darin Snyder, chair of the Bay Area Urban Debate League Advisory Board and Managing Partner at O’Melveny and Myers, presents the NAUDL with a “large” (pun intended) $15,000 check.
