Cullinane said that her involvement in debate has improved almost every aspect of her academic life, and has had an impact on her personal life as well.

"It's helped my reading skills, my ability to break things down and analyze them," Cullinane said. "I have a better understanding of different topics. It's broadened my vocabulary, helped my grades."

St. Louis Public Schools students participate in national debate championships - 90.7 KWMU, an NPR affiliate

Starting Thursday, 76 debaters from urban school districts across the nation will gather in Chicago to start the process of crowning the best from their ranks.

Four of the participants in the Chase Urban Debate League National Championships will be St. Louis Public Schools students.

Two SLPS debate teams claim national awards - KSDK St. Louis

Last week, two local high school debate teams from the St. Louis Public School System claimed honors at a nationwide tournament in Chicago.

The tournament consisted of 38 teams representing 19 urban debate leagues, competing in two-person cross examination style policy debates.

Reagan Debate Team Headed to National Championship - Houston Style Magazine

John H. Reagan High School's debate team of Brandon Clements and David Perez took second place in the Houston Urban Debate League (HUDL) city championship on March 27 and 28. The event took place at the University of Houston's main campus and the downtown Federal Courthouse. The win earned each student $1,250 in scholarship money and a trip to Chicago to compete for the national championship, April 23-26.

Essex County Vocational Technical student shows talent at debate tournaments - NJ.com - Newark Live

Wilmot Wilson, a senior at Essex County Vocational Technical Schools Newark Tech campus, is no stranger to debating.

The East Orange resident has been taking part in public speaking competitions since he was in eighth grade and this year he earned a fourth-place victory in the New Jersey Forensics League state tournament, after competing in several debate contests this school year.

When argument becomes debate: South Ender Frezzella Cullinane takes her team to the podium - MySouthEnd.com

Frezzella Cullinane, a 17-year-old South Ender and senior at Josiah Quincy Upper School (JQUS), will represent the sate of Massachusetts along with three fellow Boston Public Schools (BPS) students at the Urban Debate National Championship in Chicago from April 23 to 26. The four students will compete against more than 20 Urban Debate Leagues from major cities around the country.

Students prep for national debate - Bay State Banner

A high school student joined the debate team and says the extracurricular activity changed her life. She says it helped her reading skills, her ability to analyze things, her vocabulary and her grades.

The prestigious Chase Urban Debate National Championship is this coming weekend in Chicago. The league typically invites only one school from each urban league, but that wasn't the case this year.
